About StreamShack — what it is and where the data comes from

What this site is for

Streaming rights move constantly. A film that was on Netflix last month is on Prime this month and gone from both by Christmas, and the answer is different again depending on which country you're sitting in. StreamShack exists to answer one question quickly and without a sign-up wall: where can I legally watch this, right now, where I live?

Search any movie or series and you get every option we know about, split into what's included with a subscription you might already pay for, what's free with ads, and what you'd have to rent or buy — with the price where the provider publishes one.

The IMDb URL trick

StreamShack started as a shortcut. If you're already looking at a film on IMDb, you can swap the domain in the address bar and land on the same title here:

imdb.com/title/tt0068646 → streamshack.net/title/tt0068646

That still works and always will. Every IMDb title ID resolves to the matching page on this site.

Where the data comes from

Availability, pricing and catalogue data come from Watchmode, a licensed streaming-availability data provider. Poster artwork is served from the providers' own image hosts and remains the property of the respective studios and distributors.

We cache each title's data for a few days so the site stays fast and doesn't hammer the upstream API. That means a very recent catalogue change can take a little while to show up here.

StreamShack is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any streaming service, studio or distributor. We don't host, stream or link to pirated content — every link on this site points to a legal, licensed provider.

How the site makes money

StreamShack is free to use. Running costs are covered by advertising, and in future by affiliate commission on some rent and buy links — where a provider pays us a small share if you rent or buy after clicking through. This never changes the price you pay, and it never affects the order services are listed in. Availability is reported as the data provider gives it to us.

Getting it wrong

Sometimes we will. Availability data is imperfect, regional licensing is messy, and prices change without notice. Always check the provider's own page before paying for anything. If you spot something wrong, please tell us — corrections are genuinely welcome.
