- Warner Bros. was so disappointed with Batman Returns' box office performance that they blamed the film's dark tone, leading McDonald's to recall their Happy Meal tie-in promotion.
- Tim Burton was so opposed to the title Batman Forever that he compared it to a tattoo someone would get while intoxicated.
- Michael Keaton turned down $15 million to return as Batman because he disliked the direction of the series and rejected the script.
- Val Kilmer signed on to play Batman in July 1994 without reading the script or knowing who the director was.
- Nicole Kidman revealed she accepted the role of Chase Meridian because she wanted to kiss Batman.
- Tommy Lee Jones was reluctant to play Two-Face but accepted the role at his son's insistence.
- Robin Williams reportedly turned down the Riddler role after learning Jim Carrey got it, and publicly demanded an apology from the studio.
- Michael Jackson lobbied hard for the Riddler role but was turned down before Jim Carrey was cast.
- Leonardo DiCaprio was considered for Robin but decided against pursuing the role after meeting with director Joel Schumacher.
