• Russell Crowe's original contract for Robin Hood included a $20 million fee plus 20 percent of the gross.
• The early script portrayed Robin Hood as less virtuous and involved in a love triangle with Lady Marian, with the Sheriff of Nottingham as the more sympathetic character.
• Ridley Scott considered casting Russell Crowe in a dual role as both Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham before abandoning the idea.
• Sienna Miller was originally cast as Maid Marian but was replaced by Cate Blanchett in February 2009 because rewrites made her character older than Miller's age.
• Vanessa Redgrave withdrew from the film following the death of her daughter Natasha Richardson and was replaced by Eileen Atkins.
