Trivia & production notes

• Phil Lord and Christopher Miller saw over 3,000 actors for the role of young Han Solo, which Miller described as one of the hardest casting challenges of all time.
• George Lucas had conceived nine film ideas for Star Wars before selling Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012, including various spin-offs, and the Han Solo story was the concept that most inspired Lawrence Kasdan to write.
• A planned live-action TV series called Star Wars: Underworld, developed by George Lucas, would have shown Han Solo's first meeting with Chewbacca and his acquisition of the Millennium Falcon from Lando Calrissian, but the series was never produced.
• Jon Kasdan cited Treasure Island, Unforgiven, Heat, The Big Lebowski, and Gangster No. 1 as influences when writing the screenplay for Solo.
• Peter Serafinowicz recorded dialogue as Maul during production but was replaced by Sam Witwer after the film's premiere to maintain continuity with the Clone Wars and Rebels animated series.
• Phoebe Waller-Bridge joined the cast in a CGI-driven performance, similar to Alan Tudyk's role as K-2SO in Rogue One.
