• The entire film was shot on sound stages in downtown Los Angeles rather than on location in an actual jungle.
• Jim Henson's Creature Shop created animal puppet figures for the young actor Neel Sethi to perform against, but none of these puppets appear in the final film.
• Jon Favreau incorporated Bill Murray's distinctive facial expressions, including his lifted eyebrow, into the character of Baloo through motion capture.
