Trivia & production notes
- The entire film was shot on sound stages in downtown Los Angeles rather than on location in an actual jungle.

- Jon Favreau incorporated Bill Murray's distinctive facial expressions, including his lifted eyebrow, into the character of Baloo through motion capture.
- The filmmakers took Christopher Walken's iconic facial features like wrinkles and distinctive lines and integrated them into the animated King Louie character.
- The film drew cinematic inspiration from Shane for the child-mentor relationship, Goodfellas for establishing rules in a dangerous world, and Apocalypse Now for the shadowy jungle figure.
- Nearly 70 species of animals native to India are featured in the film, with several enlarged to 150% of their actual size.
- Around 1,000 remote jungle locations in India were photographed and used as reference material during post-production.
- Pixar Animation Studios assisted in developing the story and suggested ending the film with the original physical book from the 1967 animated film's opening.
- The Disney Pictures opening logo was recreated as a hand-painted, cel-animated multi-plane logo in homage to classic Disney animated films.
- Jon Favreau researched anthropomorphic animal characters from films like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Bambi, and Babe to develop techniques for the film.
