- Paul Feig pitched an action-comedy version of Wonder Woman to Warner Bros. in 2013, but the studio rejected it.
- Michelle MacLaren was hired to direct Wonder Woman but departed due to creative differences before Patty Jenkins took over the project.
- Patty Jenkins and Geoff Johns rewrote the Wonder Woman screenplay but were excluded from the official writing credits by the WGA.
- Wonder Woman's origin story was set during World War I rather than World War II, departing from the character's comic book origins.
- Gal Gadot trained six hours a day for six months and gained 17 pounds of muscle, learning swordsmanship, Kung Fu, kickboxing, capoeira, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and horseback riding for the role.
- Chris Pine initially declined the role of Steve Trevor because he felt it was secondary, but changed his mind after Patty Jenkins pitched the film as a romance.
