• Creator Constance M. Burge initially conceived Charmed as a show set in Boston about three female roommates who were witches, but executive producer E. Duke Vincent convinced the producers to refocus the concept around family by making them sisters instead.
• A 28-minute pilot episode was filmed but never aired on network television before the show's official premiere.
• Original actress Lori Rom quit the role of youngest sister Phoebe Halliwell before the series premiere, forcing producers to film a new pilot with Alyssa Milano in the role.
• Charmed's debut drew the largest audience for a series premiere in The WB's history.
• The WB picked up an entire 22-episode first season after only two episodes had aired.
• Shannen Doherty and Holly Marie Combs, who played the two eldest Halliwell sisters, were best friends at the time of casting.
• When Shannen Doherty departed after the third season, both Jennifer Love Hewitt and Tiffani Thiessen were considered to replace her before Rose McGowan was ultimately cast.
• The show's exterior shots of Halliwell Manor were filmed at the Innes House located at 1329 Carroll Avenue in Los Angeles, which became a tourist attraction.
• The first six seasons were filmed at Ray Art Studios in Canoga Park before the facility was sold in 2003, after which production moved to the Paramount Studios lot for the final two seasons.
• Dorian Gregory, who played inspector Darryl Morris, remained with the show from season one through season seven, longer than any other supporting male cast member.
