- Tim Kring conceived Heroes after speaking with Lost executive producer Damon Lindelof, with whom he had collaborated for three years on Crossing Jordan, about how to approach a serialized drama.
- The show's writing team used a collaborative method where each writer focused on individual characters and their scenes, which were then combined, allowing all writers to contribute to every episode and enabling faster script completion.
- Season two of Heroes was cut from 24 planned episodes to just 11 due to the WGA writers' strike, forcing producers to cancel the planned Exodus volume entirely.
- NBC fired Jesse Alexander and Jeph Loeb from Heroes in November 2008 over creative differences and budget problems, though an insider claimed Tim Kring himself terminated them for abandoning the character-driven storytelling that made season one successful.
- Bryan Fuller joined the Heroes writing staff in December 2008 after his ABC series Pushing Daisies was cancelled, signing a two-year deal with Universal Media Studios.
- Each episode of Heroes cost $4 million to produce.
