Trivia & production notes
- Dan Schneider originally conceived iCarly as a show where Miranda Cosgrove would play a normal girl who gets cast in her favorite TV series, but changed the concept during a casual meeting with his wife and producer Steven Molaro to instead center on a character running her own web show.
- The show's title came about after Schneider tried other character names—the URL for iSam was already taken, he bought the domain for iJosie, but ultimately settled on iCarly because he liked how the name sounded.
- The exterior shots of the Shays' apartment building Bushwell Plaza are digitally altered images of the Eastern Columbia Building in Los Angeles.
- The original pilot script featured a lead character named Sam, but the character names were changed to Carly and Sam before the show was filmed in January 2007.
- The second season consisted of 45 episodes that were split into two broadcast seasons, and the third production season was similarly divided with half shot in 2010 and the other half shot in 2011.
- Jennette McCurdy did not return for the 2021 Paramount+ revival of iCarly, as she had left the acting profession and felt embarrassed by her past career.
- The iCarly revival was canceled after three seasons on October 4, 2023, though a follow-up film was reported to be in development.
- Jay Kogen left the iCarly revival project in February 2021 due to creative differences with Miranda Cosgrove.
- Dan Schneider was not involved in producing the Paramount+ revival, with Jay Kogen and Ali Schouten developing the series instead.
- Some shots for the final season of the original iCarly were filmed at KTLA Studios, now known as Old Warner Brothers Studios.
