• The characters in Money Heist weren't fully developed before casting began; they took shape based on how the actors performed in auditions.
• Javier Gutiérrez was initially offered the role of the Professor but turned it down because he was already committed to the film Campeones.
• Álvaro Morte landed the role of the Professor partly because his appearance resembled a primary school teacher, which the producers felt gave the character more credibility.
• The Professor and Berlin's family connection was not part of the original script but was added to their backstory at the end of part 1 after Álvaro Morte and Pedro Alonso repeatedly pitched the idea.
• Pedro Alonso developed Berlin's character after a chance encounter the day before his audition with a manipulative and observant person who inspired the character's unpredictable behavior.
• Úrsula Corberó's voice was heavily considered during casting for Tokyo, since her voice would be the first thing audiences hear in the series.
• Alba Flores was offered the role of Nairobi without an audition when creator Álex Pina realized late in development that the show needed another female gang member.
• Neymar filmed cameo scenes as a monk for part 3, but they were excluded from the final release until judicial charges against him were dropped in August 2019.
• The pilot episode of Money Heist took 26 days to film, while all subsequent episodes were shot in approximately 14 days.
• Parts 1 and 2 were filmed at the Spanish National Research Council headquarters because it visually resembled the Royal Mint of Spain, which is where the main storyline is set.
