Trivia & production notes

• The first eight seasons of Scrubs were filmed at the North Hollywood Medical Center, a decommissioned hospital that production completely gutted and rebuilt, knocking down walls and creating new spaces like the main ward and admissions area that never existed in the original building.
• The production housed nearly all crew members, including writers and casting staff, directly within the hospital building, with cast members given old hospital rooms as dressing rooms instead of traditional trailers.
• Dr. Cox's apartment on the show was built inside an old operating room of the decommissioned hospital.
• Bill Lawrence created Scrubs based on the experiences of his college friend Dr. Jonathan Doris, who was a resident in internal medicine at Brown Medical School.
• The main characters J.D., Chris Turk, and Molly Clock are named after three of the show's medical advisors: Jonathan Doris, Jon Turk, and Dolly Klock.
• Every medical story featured on Scrubs was provided by real physicians, who were credited by having their names written into the episodes.
