Trivia & production notes
- Suits originally developed under the title A Legal Mind and was conceived by creator Aaron Korsh as a half-hour Entourage-style show set on Wall Street based on his own experiences there.
- Korsh rewrote the premise to make Mike a fake lawyer rather than just a fake Harvard attendee, embracing the legal world's bar exam requirement as a distinction from Wall Street.
- The pilot was shot at the real Kirkland Ellis LLP law office in New York, while the rest of the series filmed in Toronto with sets designed to match the New York location.
- Patrick J. Adams was cast first as Mike Ross in July 2010, followed by Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter in late July and Rick Hoffman as Louis in mid-August.
- The character Jessica Pearson was originally written as male before being given to Gina Torres.
- A deleted scene featuring Victor Garber as Phillip Hardman was cut from the American pilot during rewrites but remained in British airings and reruns.
- The show's theme song Greenback Boogie by Ima Robot was released as a single on September 18, 2010, and appears on the band's third album Another Man's Treasure.
- USA Network promoted the series premiere with an advance screening at Hudson River Park on June 2, 2011, where attendees received free Häagen-Dazs Sundae cones.
- The network ran a multi-city promotional campaign across New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, and Boston featuring branded ice cream carts, bikes, and scooters.
- Creator Aaron Korsh pitched the script only to USA Network and did not shop it to any other networks or studios.
