- A film adaptation of The Last of Us was announced in 2014 but entered development hell and had its rights relinquished by 2019, when creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann decided the story required a television series instead.
- The Last of Us is the largest television production to be filmed in Alberta, generating CA$182 million for the province and creating 1,490 jobs.
