Trivia & production notes
- The show's early episodes were filmed in Santa Clarita, California at a Lockheed Martin corporate campus because the area resembled Las Vegas's outskirts, then moved to nearby Santa Clarita Studios after the 11th episode.
- After season five, CSI primarily filmed at Universal Studios Hollywood rather than in the Santa Clarita area, though outdoor scenes continued to be shot in Santa Clarita due to its versatility.
- The theme song 'Who Are You' was written by Pete Townshend of The Who, with vocals by Roger Daltrey, who later made a guest appearance in the season-seven episode 'Living Legend'.
- Ozzy Osbourne, The Wallflowers, John Mayer, and Akon each performed onscreen in separate episodes rather than just having their music featured in the background.
- The 'Mad World' cover by Gary Jules and Michael Andrews, originally made for the 2001 film Donnie Darko, was used in the pilot episode and three season-six episodes.
